first I want to thank Shaunie and the gang at Briggs and Co for yet another great plein air experience. the artists were well taken care of and the community of Winters were very friendly and accomodating. Along with painting in a very beautiful area, I enjoyed meeting many of the artists and the locals. All in all a good and productive time was had. I'm looking forward to next year already and I haven't even been home a week!
Thanks again for…

This is my 3rd year to participate in Paint the Town, and every year it gets better. There is a special light and lay of the land about Winters that seems to be very unique. The thing I find always amazing is the color of the hills to the west. It changes all day long: sometimes a soft violet, sometimes a deep strong blue-green-purple, and sometimes an incredible pearlescent azure that can be very evasive to a painter trying to capture just the right hue. I also enjoy the business folks in…

Once the rain stops we will be outdoors painting. There are now lots of groups to join with great places to paint. Was in Locke last weekend and there is a painting on every corner. Winters is another location that sparks the creative juices. Two years ago I was at the festival painting on a farm with a dog barking in the background. I was into my painting when this pitbull came charging around the barn, dragging his long broken chain. It was the fasted takedown of an easel on record.

At the beginning of April, I drove my RV (Artie) up to Winters, CA to take part in a plein air event that was sponsored by Briggs & Co. It was an unexpected joy to have seen this pristine historical farming area and to be welcomed so warmly by the kindhearted people.
The painting event was for seven days, with a reception on the following Saturday night. Since Winters is only an hour from my home, I decided to paint for the full week. This gave me a chance to settle in to the…
